IBM Watson IoT Champion 2020 – A Hat-trick!

2020 marks an IBM Champion hat-trick for me! This means I have been recognized as an IBM Champion for 3 years on the trot, contributing to a group of thought leaders around the world who influence and mentor others to make the most out of IBM solutions, software and services.  In this instance, IBM’s Maximo Enterprise Asset Management solution suite.

As an IBM Champion for Maximo, I contribute to the community —organizing and leading user group events, answering questions in forums, contributing blogs, sharing videos, and more!

Starting out as an IBM Champion

I got my first badge back in 2018 for bringing the latest product features to the user community and helping to answer their queries using my team of BPD experts for guidance. I was very active in the online Maximo communities and was blogging regularly for the IMWUC (as the IBM Community was then known).

BPD Zenith was seeing lots of EAM opportunities emerging in IoT, mobile, SaaS and cloud, and was staying ahead of the trends.

Growing the Maximo User Community

I was awarded IBM Champion again in 2019 when I was pushing really hard to help grow the Maximo community through user groups. The Aberdeen-based Oil & Gas User Forum was going from strength to strength, we set out to begin a new group for ASIA Maximo users and founded MaxTECH – the Maximo User Group for a technical user community.

IBM Champion 2020 Goals

2020 marks another new turn as I consider how the Internet of Things and Asset Performance Management fits into the Maximo journey. I look forward to sharing those ideas and solutions with the Maximo and business partner community.

This is a really exciting time for me, as IoT and APM really keeps the Maximo EAM conversation going into the future. BPD Zenith are already investing in this area with Asset Health Monitoring and Worker Safety initiatives. Real-time data sensing offers an improved understanding of asset condition and allows you to take informed action and improve operations! We look forward to bringing these offerings to a jam packed 2020 events calendar.

Finally, I’d like to thank Libby for her support as I spent some of 2019 on maternity leave and still managed to make the cut and keep my toe in the asset management world!

Did you know we have 4 IBM Champions at BPD Zenith?

In 2019, BPD Zenith had 4 IBM Champions across the world. Myself, Helen Fisher, in the UK, Graeme Sharp and Mark Michael in Australia, and Stephen Hume in Canada. I am proud to say that all 4 of us were recognized as IBM Watson IoT Champions (again!) for 2020. A huge congratulations to my colleagues for their contributions.  I look forward to another year being connected to other IBM Champions and exchanging ideas about technology trends.
