As a long-time support person for Maximo at several companies, one of the main problems I have seen is that over time there gets to be too many saved QUERIES in the system. Without a back-end query of the database, you can never quite be sure if a Query has been used as a result set on a Start Center somewhere.
If your users have been given the security to create “public” queries then applications can soon become bogged down with poorly described queries. This is an inefficient way of working and may even duplicate queries that have already been created!
In the past, we used to use direct updates to the backend database to manage queries, updating someone else’s query, deleting their queries, or switching a query from PUBLIC to non-public.
At MaxTECH, I will be leading a free Maximo training course on how to create a custom Query Management Application in Maximo including:
- A single place to review all queries
- See which Start Centers queries have been used on
- Switch queries from public to non-public
- Update the “where clause” for someone else’s query
The final BONUS bit of the training will be to show a mechanism to assign queries to person groups so that only the group members can see those public queries when accessing the specific application that the queries were created for.
The Maximo Technical User Group (MaxTECH) is designed to allow Maximo Administrators and Technical support staff a place to ask and answer technical questions around Maximo.
Registration is now available for the MaxTECH meeting in St. Louis on 11-12th July, 2018.
Join the technical conversation on Twitter, IMWUC or Linked In.
