It's time… Maximo 7.5 End Of Support!

It’s time! End Of Support (EOS) for Maximo Asset Management 7.5x, Industry Solutions, Add-ons and for Maximo Archiving 7.1 happened on April 30, 2018.
More details on Maximo 7.5 EOS can be found here.

Staying on Maximo 7.5

If you decide to stay on Maximo 7.5, it’s important to remember your installation will carry on working beyond EOS. In fact, BPD Zenith supports several customers still running on unsupported versions. But we do advise that you start preparing for EOS as it will be April before we know it!
BPD advises taking the following steps to prepare for EOS:

  1. If you have the 7.5 Technotes page saved to your computer, consider printing notes of interest to a PDF file and storing them. IBM are likely to remove 7.5 content from its servers.
  2. The same applies for Fix Packs. Take a copy of the latest 7.5 Fix Pack in the weeks before EOS (not forgetting the latest interim pack).
  3. Check with your Maximo partner about extended support for 7.5.x.
  4. Note, IBM will not accept new PMRs for 7.5 components.

Moving to Maximo 7.6

Maximo 7.6 (released in December 2014) is by far the most functionally rich, innovative, and UX-focussed Maximo release yet.

Over the last couple of years, we have had many opportunities to explore, test, and upgrade the latest release. Our team is familiar with the business benefits and complexities associated with the upgrade process.
Whilst simpler than the move from 7.1 to 7.5, your 7.6 upgrade will still take some planning and may require some user retraining. It is also a good opportunity to consider improving your business processes and technologies.
IBM have made some useful upgrade resources available.

Help from BPD Zenith

BPD Zenith is ready to help.  If you’re looking to stay on 7.5, we offer support for older systems. Or if you are considering the upgrade, we can walk you through the new features and help you to evaluate your business need plus the effort required.
For example, are there any customisations in your current system that are now available out-of-the-box in 7.6? Using base functionality can significantly streamline your business processes and minimise support issues.
We are happy to provide a FREE assessment on your current system to assess the potential benefits an upgrade project would bring, and then help you out with the technical work that would be involved.
Whether you choose to upgrade with BPD or can manage in house, we hope to help you pave the road to your Maximo success! Maximo 7.6 is very good and we would encourage you to start planning your upgrade. Please read our other post on upgrading to 7.6.
So, will you stay or upgrade?
