Why Upgrade?
The decision to upgrade your product is not one to be taken lightly as careful consideration needs to be given to ensure that it is successful with minimum disruption to the business during the process. There are many reasons to consider an upgrade of Maximo® including technology upgrades, business requirement for improved/increased functionality, increase of the license base or additional regulatory requirements to name a few. Whatever the reason listed below are some of the benefits of upgrading to the newer versions of Maximo®.
For those customers still using Maximo® version 4 there are some significant benefits of upgrading to the newer versions. It is important to note that IBM no longer offers support for version 4, further details can be found here. Maximo® 4.1.1 is client server based, hard-coded and relies heavily on client installations, configuration and network bandwidth. This gives a system with very limited potential for growth. The newer Maximo® version is an n-tier JAVA extendable language application that is entirely web-based and requires no client configuration. This system has unlimited growth potential and can run in many bandwidth challenged environments.
The newer version of Maximo® allows greater configuration without the need for customisation, the differences between the versions can be viewed here. BPD has recently been involved with upgrades to the Maximo® 6 and 7.1 so if you'd like to discuss the implications of upgrading your system then please go to our contact pages or arrange an appointment to speak with one of our Maximo® experts.
